I asked 14 people what self growth meant to them, here’s what they said.
“Putting in effort into being better than I was before. And by better I mean recognising where I can take action to upskill my or someone else's life”.
“Ummm I'd say self improvement is looking at the things that you don't like about yourself and finding ways to improve your self love and acceptance”.
“First thing that comes to mind without really thinking about it is being able reflect on your actions and apply the lessons in your day to day”.
“Having diverse friends that make you question or think about things differently, then being able to recognise in yourself things you want to improve”.
“Self improvement to me is seeking validation from within and having that balance between mind body and spirit etc”.
“ Oh I dunno. I'm a bit too old to worry about self improvement now. If I thought about it, it means keeping healthy in my old age for the grand children that may never come”.
“I think self improvement can differ from person to person, based on what you find important to improve in life. To me it covers a few factors, health-fitness/diet, spiritually-meditation/breathwork/qi-gong etc, financial-career/investments and fulfilment- helping others/being kind. They're the things I work on and find important in my life. Education too- learning new information and skills”.
“I am curious what others answers will be. Im to autistic for this haha. For me the definition is the definition is what it means to me. Self improvement means simply the act of improving one's self :P if your question is how we personally can implement or measure that that’s a different question but as for what it means to me personally it doesn’t mean anything personally to me its just objective definition lol”.
“Bit like home renovation, Ongoing”.
“Self improvement to me is to adapt to life challenges and learn from one’s mistakes and make changes when there is dissatisfaction. To always strive for more or less depending on what’s needed”.
“Self improvement means to me- doing tasks or steps to reach a specific goal and achieving it but self improvement also comes from achieving these steps along the way. I feel like that can relate to all aspects emotionally, physically and spiritually. It means doing things to make myself a better person to myself and those around me”.
“I guess it’s setting goals that can be measured and following through with them to reach a desired outcome”.
“Personally, to walk in humility and love with Jesus and others. Professionally - developed case formulation skills. Confidence in communication”.
“Self growth is knowing that it never stops but you believe in it anyway”.
Let me know what you think of this, what should I ask people next?
